The Full Story

Hello! I'm Melissa—a proud Mexican-Hispanic woman from South Phoenix, Arizona. I'm a daughter, sister, mother of five, aunt, cousin, and friend. As a first-generation college graduate, I've spent over 25 years in education (as a teacher and a principal) —across private, public, charter, and tribally-controlled schools.

Throughout my career, I've been dedicated to empowering young people, particularly junior high and high school students, to become their best selves. I believe in creating spaces where growth, accountability, and self-control are not just taught but practiced. Witnessing students take ownership of their learning and personal development has been profoundly rewarding.

In December 2024, I faced a pivotal moment: transitioning from education to coaching. Leaving behind a path I had built for decades was both exciting and daunting. Yet, upon reflection, I realized that I've been coaching throughout my life—guiding, supporting, and empowering others. Pursuing formal training in coaching has been humbling and empowering, allowing me to serve others with greater skill and intention.

So, why coaching? In 2016, I was introduced to coaching by my dear friend, Lourdes "Lulu" Rodriguez. Lulu was a vibrant, fearless individual who lived life with passion, joy, and authenticity. She had a unique ability to connect with others and inspire them to embrace their true selves. Her coaching approach was transformative, helping me heal and improve relationships I didn’t even think were possible. I was the type of person who kept things in and had the mindset of "suck it up, buttercup." Lulu changed that for me on so many levels. I will always be eternally grateful for her working with me and impacting my life in ways I could not have imagined at the time.

Lulu fell ill and thought it was just one of those bugs going around. When she went to the doctor, she discovered she had Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Despite her diagnosis, Lulu continued to uplift others, sharing her vibrant energy and love. She passed away in 2017, but I intend for her legacy to live on.

Now, I work with individuals from all walks of life, helping them make meaningful shifts to enhance their lives. Whether you're seeking personal growth, clarity, changing careers, family dynamics are shifting, relationships, parenting, or just can’t see that path forward, I'm here to support you on your journey.

A tagline Lulu used all the time was. . .

“ELEVATE   Only passions; great passions can elevate the soul to greatness.”

Always spreading love & joy ~ Lourdes Rodriguez 2/28/2017
